New Houses Next To Hill View

I believe that every household in the village has received a letter from Signpost Housing Association regarding an open meeting at the Village Hall on Monday 19 September from 3:00pm to 7:00pm about the proposed new houses near Frome View. The plans will be displayed and Signpost staff will be available to answer questions.

I telephoned Helen Martland and she kindly explained what “adjacent to Frome View” actually means. I understand that it means “parallel with Hill View”. A new road will be built, parallel and to the east of Hill View, with access to the main road (A356). Building such a road would mean that the village development boundary would have to be moved. This would have to be done before an application to West Dorset District Council for planning consent was made. Incidently our 30mph sign would have to be moved and we might even get a 40mph buffer zone.

The development is for affordable homes varying in size and type. They will be strictly for local people only this being the whole point of the exercise. I believe that “sustainable” building techniques are proposed though what that implies for their appearance we will have to wait to see.

Of course the most important consideration is what will the new road be called? Suggestions are invited.
